about

"1944 (Think Of Me)" was written in 2004 during a semester abroad in London. The very first song we ever wrote was called "Allergic To Love" - a novelty song written from the point of view of the classic pocket-protector wielding fictional nerd, Spencer McGillicutty.

When we put "1944" together, weeks later, we realized that we had something real. Unfortunately, we were already stuck with a ridiculous band name - but it was too late to turn back.

On two different previous occasions, we failed to make a satisfactory recording of "1944" - once in 2005, and again in 2006 during our first album sessions. This brand new recording is our first successful attempt at capturing the spirit of this song - we feel we've finally done it justice. Our 2004 selves would be proud.

lyrics

1944 (Think Of Me)

I was gazing out a window or a door
On a sleeper car in Italy, 2004
I was different then
And I am different now again

People come and go
I'm one of them; you know me
But if you take away the things you think of me
What's left of me?
Please think of me

We were together back in 1944
You fought alongside me in the second World War
We were braver then
Now what's become of us, my friend?

People come and go
I'm one of them; you know me
But if you take away the things you think of me
What's left of me?
Please think of me

You look familiar; I think I've seen you once before
We spoke in Gaelic dancing on the Cliffs of Moher
We were younger then
But we will dance again my friend

People come and go
I'm one of them; you know me
But if you take away the things you think of me
What's left of me?
Please think of me
Think of me
